Lazy Sunday {Orlando Child Photographer}

It’s been raining all Sunday afternoon. I’ve had the windows up and spent a nice long lazy time laying down and listening to the drumming rain. So therapeutic and just what I needed as we head into next week. I got into the softest t-shirt I could find, didn’t turn on any lights so that I could enjoy the muted light and shadows filling the room, I meditated on the message we heard at church this morning, and I held a sleepy little girl in my arms. And the icing? I opened up the fridge to find a shiny new box of pecan pralines from Shawner. He luvs me! It was a magical afternoon. I hope you had a lovely Sunday too, my friends.

Today I also went treasure hunting.  I was going through  some old backup cd’s and came upon some gems. They were images taken during the last part of 2007 during a family session with some dear friends at a park out in the sleepy little town of Waxahachie, TX.  When I first made a selection my of session favorites, I bypassed the two below.  Thank God I saved the originals!   It is so interesting to go back and see a past session with fresh eyes and discover how much my style has changed in what I value as a “keeper” image.  For another, it’s interesting to see how differently I work on the image afterward in Photoshop.  Back then, taking a photgraph was half the work, Photoshop was the other half.   I was totally into textures and would slap a texture onto all the photographs I took. Now, not so much.  I realize how often I used the technique in too heavy handed a way in the past.  Exhibit A! Anyway, I’m going back through the session as a personal project as if for the first time, I unearthed several other gems too. Another post with those treasures coming up later.

and look at these amazing bird sculptures from the Festival of the Masters event. I wanted to take them all home with me. Instead I took home the artist’s card only to lose it somewhere between the art festival and home…sob. Aren’t they perfect?
