b&w film ~ kodak 400 tri-x ~ hasselblad 500c/m

Got a new toy to play with for an amazing price on Ebay…a hasselblad 500c/m camera.  The appeal?  It shoots square images and it has to be manually focused and hand wound for each frame (which just plain feels COOL) and did I mention that it shoots square? Plus, my friend, Catherine creates some of the most captivating and powerful images I’ve ever seen with her hasselblad, so I was in large part inspired by her work.

The following images are from my first roll shot through the hassy. My girl was being a frog and a ballerina, and with 10 images per roll, these are the only ones that are semi-focused, the rest are an abysmal blur. I’m definitely spoiled with the autofocus on my digital camera.  Adore these though.

sara & zack ~ cobblestone hall ~ raleigh, north carolina destination wedding

I met Zack & Sara at Jake & Katie’s wedding last year and when a few months later, Sara called to tell me that Zack had proposed and could I come shoot their wedding, I knew it would be a celebration for the books.  And oh boy, was it ever!  If I spent the rest of my life photographing the people that I’ve met at both weddings, I would go on to my heavenly reward  a fulfilled photographer!  More generous, loving, warm and passionate people you’d be hard pressed to find.  An image that I feel encapsulates the entire mood of this wedding for me is down towards the bottom of the set below, during the speeches, it’s when Zack is looking at Sara, I can almost feel how much he enjoys and adores her just by how he gazes at her.  I felt if I was looking into Zack’s very heart and seeing Sara enshrined there, as if her happiness means the world to him.   Everyone should have someone look at them with love like that in their eyes.

Their DIY bohemian styled wedding was held at Cobblestone Hall in historic Raleigh, and I’ll be updating the blog when Sara get’s their vendor information to me.  Thanks to my friend, Caroline who shot alongside me.  And thank you, Sara & Zack for the very great honor of being your photographer.
