tina’s haldi ceremony ~ florida ~ indian wedding photographer

Tina’s haldi ceremony was the first time I’ve ever wished that photos included sound. The folk songs that were sung by her family members as they ‘prepared’ her for her wedding were amazing and looking at the images below, I can almost hear the voices raised in song.
For those of you that aren’t familiar with Indian weddings, the haldi ceremony is when family members beautify the bride (and groom) the day before their wedding by slathering them from head to toes with a turmeric paste applied with grass brushes. The ceremony is playful but very symbolic and a significant part of the wedding festivities.

more soon, but for now…
